After prayer, we renovated two old townhouses near the medical school area, then advertised them on the student rental housing website, and rented them out to students and scholars at a low price to pay for part of the ministry expenses. We also conducted training in one of the buildings; the participation of students and scholars increased gradually. Afterwards, we designated one of the larger rooms as "TLOL Student Center", where we held weekly dinners, training and evangelistic gatherings.
Due to the high mobility of students and scholars, we must seize the opportunity to reach new students or seekers, and make committed Disciples of Christ. Opportunities for contact mainly include: providing pick-up at the airport, welcome party, shopping, grocery shopping in Chinese supermarkets, etc., and inviting believers of their friends, classmates, lab-mates or roommates come to our meetings. For the students who have already believed in the Lord, in addition to encouraging them to participate in Friday fellowship Bible study and Sunday worship, they are also encouraged to participate in services such as leading songs, leading Bible study (pre-study is required), and English interpretation at the Sunday Worship service to cultivate them. In addition, we also have regular training gatherings to help them become more solid in their faith. For example, we invited them to attend: the prayer meeting on Monday evening; co-worker’s Bible study sharing on Tuesday night; teaching and practicing of personal evangelism on Wednesday evening; book-reading meeting for seekers and new believers on Thursday.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for His keeping, the church-planting ministry of "the Light of Life (TLOL)" is a ministry that mainly trains and cultivates students and scholars to become disciples of the Lord; also because of the high mobility of students and scholars, the church is essentially a Missions’ ministry. Our vision: “To see Chinese intellectuals and others becoming trainers of Christ’s Disciples and church planters.” Our mission statement: “Reach, teach, inspire, cultivate and train today’s Chinese and other intellectuals to become Disciples of Christ, and to glorify God by making His disciples and being the light and salt of the world.”

Since the establishment of TLOL church planting ministry on September 15, 2013, 57 people have been baptized so far, and 38 have left Baltimore; some have become co-workers of local churches in other places and continue to serve the Lord. Praise the Lord, there are currently four young JHU graduate students who have responded to the Lord's call. They have completed and received a Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary; three of them are currently serving full-time in this church and serving as full-time ministers, and the other is the director of the children's ministry in CCCB. We pray that the Lord will continue to use this student’s ministry to make more disciples who can make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2), or become full-time missionaries to spread the word around the world (Matthew 9:37~38; Acts 1:8), to glorify the name of the Lord.
